RE: Roof A/C Airflow ?

I have spoken with a few people that have had this trouble and they installed a high-velocity reversable fan such as the Fantastic and suck outside air into the coach to pressurize it. Placing a filter material in the vent opening would additionally filter the incoming air.
That was my next question...would driving with the vent cover open a few inches damage it? I wouldn't think so.
No. You could even buy one of those fancy covers that go over the entire vent.

RE: Installing DC to AC inverter in a Chalet Alpine

You can always tell when one of the big Rv'er stop by....LOL Remember folks we're talking PU's here with only two circuit breakers and one powers EVERYTHING other than an air conditioner.
First what size inverter are we talking about?
Next, common practice is to use what's called a pass through inverter for permanently wiring 120 volt circuits for use on shore and inverter power. Wiring goes from the 15 amp circuit breaker in the converter to the inverter and then to the outlets. The pass through feature on the inverter only powers the outlets when the shore power is disconnected and does not feed back to the converter; it also allows the shore power to power the outlets when it's connected.
For small inverters that are not designed as pass through you need to dedicate an outlet or outlets to the inverter. So you have a totally seperate circuit without the converter in it and they will only work when the inverter is on.
You must also keep in mind that the draw off of a battery will be apx 11 times the amperage that the appliance will draw on 120 volt AC.
That 1200 watt coffee maker will "try" and draw 100+ amps from the battery. Your basic 100 amp battery will not last long.
Well then Mike, should I go to the travel trailer Forum and post my reply there since this member has posted the same question there?? :B
LOL!!

RE: problems with my tango trailer

:R Another one of those new members where their very first post is to "dis" a manufacturer.
It has been well documented on these Forums that the Tango product is one of the better RV's being produced.
If the dealer is taking so long to fix it, it sounds like a dealer issue and not a Tango issue.

RE: Installing DC to AC inverter in a Chalet Alpine

You need to remove the branch circuit off of the camper power converter that you want to power and connect it to the inverter.
This is what I did but my inveter has it's own auto trasfer switch so it was very easy to do my conversion.

RE: Fiver without bunks for kids. Yes or No ?

We got bunks on our previous Trailer and never used them. Our son never went camping with us and it was too difficult to care for our disabled daughter if she was in the bunk so she styed on the dinette.
We didn't mind putting the dinette up and down when needed.
Our current TT has no bunks and our daughter still uses the dinette and we just use the sofa with a hi-lo tabke for dinning

Cushion?? Your roof has a cushion under the membrane? I have only seen hard substrate such as plywood.
Are you sure the adjuster doesn't have a brother in the RV repair business? :W

A different formaldehyde issue.

A good friend of mine was taken to the hospital after getting very ill after drinking some freshly ground and brewed coffee.
After tests were concluded and the results returned, it seems he had a reaction to formaldehyde.
My friend had run out of coffee filters and substituted a paper towel for the filter. The floral print design on the paper towel had formaldehyde content and this leeched into the coffee as it was ran through the make-shift filter.
I have done this many times but realy don't remember if my paper towels had printing on them.
Doctor said that this is usually not an issue with most but evidently my friend is much more sensetive to the chemical than many.
Friend is fine and has over-stocked on coffee filters!
After a search on the internet, it seems that all paper towels use formaldehyde to strengthen the paper when it gets wet.
Info here!

RE: Weber Q Low-Pressure Conversion w/Pics

Do pretty much all of these type of portable grills & stoves work the same way? In other words, can this be done to any other model sporting its own regulator?
No, some can't be converted and the reason why is that some grills have the regulator incorporated into the control that varies the flame. If your grill has a control with a knob and the one-pound bottle screws right into that control then the regulator can't be removed.
The Q series are unique because the flame control is separate from it's internal regulator.

RE: Running the a/c while driving a travel trailer (TT)

Gotta' love the ones that want to partake in a Forum of public opinion and then get snooty when that opinion isn't to their liking.
When I joined this Forum a number of years ago, it was in the hopes that my 30+ years in the RV business could possibly benefit some here. By the many PM's of thanks I receive, I have seen my contributions have helped many.
Over the years I've tried very hard not to let certain members, threads and subjects "get to me" but when ya' see threads, responses, suggestions, attitiudes and trolls like we see here, it's hard not to join in and have some "fun".
So that being said, thanks to everyone for the great suggestions, the humor, the serious replies that are even more humorous and the plain ol' entertainment that threads like this provide.
It is threads like this that keep me here on the Forum. ;)

Weber Q Low-Pressure Conversion w/Pics

I have had some PM me on how I did this conversion so I can connect my Baby Q to the low-pressure propane port on a trailer. I found these pics by another camper so here they are:

RE: Coachman and others? FIRE HAZARD CHECK YOUR RV!

That needs to go to National Highway Safety Commission with pictures if you have any. A REAL BIG PROBLEM, THANKS FOR THE HEADS UP!
This is not a problem, gees guys lets just think for a minute. What is surrounded around your water heater? Insulation! Yea, it is designed to keep the heat in. Wrap more insulation around the heater and you have less heat loss. Those clothes were just added insulation. The only way this could have been a fire hazard is if the clothes were in contact with the flame from the propane operaton of the heater. That would in all probability been impossible, since the flame is on the outside beyond the interior of the coach.
No problem if you just think about it. Well it might be a problem when you can't find any clean underwear in the drawer because its insulating the water heater!
Ummm, wasn't this already stated about 3 hours ago in the thread? :h :B :B

RE: washing machine repair question??? UPDATE

There could be a few reasons your washer is doing this.
The simple one could be the Fill Valve that the two water hoses from the wall connect to. If this is defective, water will continue to go into the drum even when the timer doesn't call for fill.
This is a very easy part to replace and the part can be had for around $15.00.
The more difficult problem could be a defective timer that calls for filling when it shouldn't. If this is the trouble, I would look into a new machine.
Appliance Repair Clinic Link
And check-out THIS LINK
New fill-valves for $15.00 HERE
My overall recomendation, if finances are an issue, is to search craigslist for a newer, used machine. I have purchased a few appliances this way and have never had a problem.
There are many people that are selling major appliances because they are either moving or, sadly, loosing their homes.
HERE are the current craigslist listings for Maine.
My recomendation for a make is Maytag or Whirlpool.
And BTW Dee, we sell those door switches to the service men for a wholesale cost of around $8.00!!!!

RE: It's hard to keep vigil at the hospital

I know it is not an easy burdon.
My daughter is severely handicapped and doesn't speak so when she is hospitalized, either me or my wife needs to be with her 24/7 so we can be our dauther's "voice".
At the beginning of this year, we all had a 3-month stay in the hospital and even though we feel our daughter's care was excellent, there were times when one of the hospital staff would make a mistake in care procedures and had no one been there to speak-up, the results could have been less than good.
And, don't get to feeling guilty if you and your family get to the point where you need a break or some time off. It is in your loved-one's best interest for their care-givers to be refreshed and to be the best that they can be. Everyone needs some time off and I know in the beginning of our daughter's journey, I felt guilty when leaving her.
Hang in there. There will be emotional as well as physical demands on all of you but somehow, God gives us the strength to carry on and we then do what we need to do. You will be in our prayers.

:R
Good advice if this truely was a hazzard, which it is not.
In fact, I may just pile my bath towels around my water heater so I can have heated towels like in the finest hotels!! :B
But, to the OP, I am sure I can speak for all of us when I say we appreciate your's and other's concerns for our safety.
BTW, the only safety issue COULD possibly be if the junction box on the back of the water heater for the 110-volt option, developed a problem and overheated and/or caught fire, then there would be fuel for this fire in the form of clothes.

Wow! After reading some of the sarcastic responses to this brand new member, I really don't have anything to add to this thread except to say:
Welcome to the Forum, new poster and please don't judge all of us by the "meth-lab" and "since you aren't concerned about safety" and "you don't care about your pets" Bone Headed responses.
